Reflections from Mom

Thought maybe it was time to check back in at Walt's World.  Between feedings, changings, dressings (and the undressing it requires to get him to wake up enough to eat), visiting with Walt's adoring public, and trying to take care of my post-partum self, I'm having a little difficulty finding time to record my thoughts (Josh has taken care of most of the posts).  So while Dad, Gram and Walt watch the Grizzlies try to beat the Suns, I'll take the opportunity to tell everyone how my baby is the cutest, smartest, most precious baby ever born.  I'm sure I'm not the first mother to feel this way, but in this case, I'm quite certain I might actually be right.  It's simply amazing how such a tiny little person who does nothing but, eat, sleep, fill diapers and occasionally (very occasionally) open his eyes can just steal your heart.  I think the feel of his soft little head under my chin is quite possibly the nicest feeling in the world.  Sigh . . .

Okay, gotta go root on the Grizzlies (currently up 57-51).

  1. First of all: congratulations!!
You are absolutely right: Walt is the best baby you could wish for. You know what you experience? Unconditional love! Once Anouk was born and we were back home, I could sit with her for hours, holding her and watching her sleep. I really treasure these memories.
This website is great. From this side of the ocean we really become part of your happiness.
    Wishing you all the best!
    Love, Liesbeth

  2. Dear Walt,
Leaving Memphis and you on Thursday was sooo hard...sorry about the leaky eyes! The only other time that was almost as hard was when we left your mom at Rhodes College in 1993...but look at all of the good things that have happened because of it! I can't even begin to tell you how your arrival has blessed us all and how excited we are about all of the fun times ahead. (Don't think I didn't see you and your cousin Collier plotting all of the things you plan to do when you get together at Gram's and Granddaddy's house!) That's ok...we're ready!
You have probably already figured this out, but I want you to know you are one very fortunate baby to be born into such a loving home. Your mom and dad are the very best and Evie will soon be your best friend...but right now she is still wondering how long you plan to stay!
Walt, you are a precious gift from God and I love you so much. Thanks for letting me share your first days...I'll never forget that wonderful time with you.
    Love,
    Gram
