That's right, I used the thesaurus (online) for that one. I'm pretty sure I've already used "Smorgasbord" and I do hate to repeat myself. Gallimaufry itself means "jumble" or "hodgepodge" and comes from the French "galimafree" meaning "sauce" or "ragout". Don't say you never learn anything here at Walt's Word.
Anyway. The reason for the title, obviously, is that there is no singular theme to this post. Just a gallimaufry of pictures taken over the past few weeks. We have been a tad bit on the lazy side when it comes to taking pictures and posting recently. (You may have noticed.) I'll go ahead and say that we're going to try to do better, but I've got to be honest, this parenting thing is kind of exhausting. Most nights when we finally get the little tyke in bed, all we want to do is sit on the couch and stare blankly at the TV. Sometimes we even turn it on. And speaking of TV . . .
Here's one of Josh, Evie, Walt, and an assortment of Walt's "friends" watching a playoff game a few weeks ago. Last night while watching another game, Josh mentioned something about Peyton Manning. For the rest of the game (until we finally put him to bed), he pointed at every player that came on the screen and asked, "Dat Peyun Mahing?"
This is Walt playing with his new Aquadoodle. His favorite stamper, as you can see, is the "hurkah".
Occasionally I leave Walt in the living room watching Sesame Street or Dan Zanes while I make dinner. I check in every few minutes and usually find him sitting quietly on the sofa, soaking up a valuable educational experience (at least that's what I tell myself). This time, I came in to find that he had dumped Josh's basket of clean running clothes in the floor and was rolling around in them like a pig in mud. Kind of cute. Tonight, I returned to find that he had colored on the TV screen. Not so much cute. Note to self: Do not leave crayons and child alone together.
And finally, this week's proof that our child might have a touch of OCD. The desk was a birthday present from Gram and Deedaddy, and the first thing Walt did with it after he "helped" Daddy put it together was to put his entire vehicle collection on it. Maybe he's going to be a parking garage designer when he grows up. (By the way, some of you are probably thinking, "What is that redness on the poor child's face?" It was some sort of allergic reaction to the shrimp pad thai he had for dinner. I don't know to what exactly, as I'm pretty sure he'd had all of the ingredients in other dishes before, but he didn't seem to care -- he ate about three helpings.)
And that's it for tonight. Time to rest my weary mommy bones.
Are we to believe that the perfect little boy in picture #1 would do something as mischievous as what is happening in picture #3? Of course, as grandparents you can think it's ALL cute, and we do! Right down to the crayons and the TV screen. He may be on to something--TV-sized "Etcha Sketch". Ginger, have you tried turning the knobs to erase that scribbling?
ReplyDeletePlease feel free to post a gallimaufry of pictures anytime you wish. They always make me smile! I'm having a hard time reconciling Walt's "neat" side and his rolling in the clean laundry like a "pig in mud"?!?
