I can explain, I promise. I know it's been five days since our last post, but we here in Walt's World have been very busy! Here, I'll show you . . .
Technically, this one was taken before our last post, but I just thought that since that last one showed Putty in such a sad state, it was only fair to show what he was doing the night before that picture was taken. And although we don't have a picture of it, about an hour after he got home from a three-day hospital stay, he was down in the floor playing with Walt again! (Of course, it took two people to get him up out of the floor, but I digress.)
On Saturday, Walt, Aunt Gigi, and I got up bright and early to head out to the Nashville marathon course to cheer on Josh. Walt was not content to reserve his enthusiasm for Daddy, though; he spread the love around to all the runners. And a few times he tried to join in the race, but we had to remind him that he was not wearing his running shoes. Or a helmet, which he would definitely need because every time he gears up to anything more than a quick waddle, it's not long before his forehead hits the ground. His poor head is just perpetually bruised. Anyway, here's a pic of Josh, who I'm sure feels he deserves a spot on the blog for running 26.2 miles in under four hours.
Okay, so Sunday we drove home from Nashvegas and before bedtime, Josh and Walt were able to fit in some yardwork . . .
Who says a fifteen-month old can't earn his keep? Monday was a blur of work/school, meetings, more work, unpacking etc. So that's the excuse for not posting that day, but nothing picture-worthy. Tuesday proved to be a very big day for young Walt. After spending several hours that morning being ferried around our greater neighborhood and playing at the park, Walt came in for lunch and a nap.
Cute, huh? Well, what wasn't so cute was when he woke up after only an hour of napping. Not cool, Walty. So, here it is, only 1 p.m. and we've got a good five hours before Daddy comes home. What to do, what to do? First of all, off to Fantastic Sams for a little trim for the kiddo, who has been looking quite shaggy lately. (Not pictured b/c he was sitting on my lap during the haircut -- I'm not that good.) And then, a visit to the zoo, which is free to Tennessee residents on Tuesday afternoons. Who knew?! Walt had a ball . . .
The brown lump in the lower lefthand corner is a seal. Here Walt is humoring me by looking in my general direction for the picture.
Here Walt is insisting on walking on the cobblestones even though there is a perfectly good smooth sidewalk right next to them. This picture was taken moments before he bit it and cracked his noggin on the very same cobblestones. His forehead is currently a very peculiar shade of blueish-green and is somewhat lumpy (much like the cobblestones).
Besides the above-pictured seal, I don't really have any good photos of Walt looking at animals. He did look at them, but was really only impressed by the goats in the "Once Upon a Farm" exhibit. As soon as we got within ten feet of their pen, they all swarmed over to us and stuck their heads out between the slats of the fence. I'm pretty sure they could smell the goldfish crackers on Walt's breath. He rewarded them with some enthusiastic squeals and several forceful pokes on the nose. I'm sure that would have made for a very cute picture, but my battery decided to die at that point, so you'll just have to take my word for it. Other than the goats, Walt's favorite things about the zoo were 1) a small waterfall in the "Northwest Passage" exhibit, which inexplicably thrilled him, 2) the train that ferries the lazy zoo-goers around (woo! woo!), and 3) pushing his own stroller.
Good times. Finally, we capped off the day with a trip to the Wilhites' house for a "last supper" of sorts before the Bush twins arrive sometime this month. (They're the white bulge, second from the left.)
Poor Walt was banished to his pack n' play in the back so he could get to bed on time and we could have dinner in peace. But not before he got Landon to read him a bedtime story.
And Steve to show him how to work his new wind-up train. (Woo! Woo!)
So there you have it. And that's why this is the first post in five days -- 'cause we've been too busy doing stuff to tell you what we're doing! We'll try not to make a habit of it.
Busy Boy, I'll say! If Putty's not better when he reads this, I'm thinking there's no hope for recovery! Nana needs to come to Nelson to give Mommy a big rest after this week. She literally worked herself to death here this past weekend with cooking, washing, changing beds, etc., and now this week getting haircuts and the like (and what a grown-up boy you are with the new 'do). Try to give Mommy a break today, and stay off cobblestones as it seems they don't do kisses so well.
ReplyDeleteI hope you know what an awesome mommy and daddy you have, Walt! They're great at sharing you and are even greater at caring for you and spending time with you; every little boy should be half as blessed as you are.
Nana loves you!
Wauw, Walt your new look is really handsome. Since we had a similar week it was nice to read your story!
ReplyDeleteWow...do I feel powerful! Just one little post last night and we promptly got a GREAT update! I'll Putty is completely well! Thank you!!! Isn't it amazing how busy you can stay with just one busy little boy? I know you are "busy" learning new things everyday as you poke the goats' noses, and watch the trains (woo-woo!) and listen to stories and eat crawfish and help Daddy sweep and build stuff and play with Evie...and the list goes on! It looks like Mommy was sooo tired that YOU had to push HER home in the stroller! Oh, please tell Mommy and Daddy thanks for taking time to let us all in on the fun! It's the best part of our week when we see a new "Walt or Collier post!!! Lots of love to everyone at your house! XOXOXO
