The moment that Mommy has feared for quite some time finally arrived today.  Walt had his first "solid" food for lunch today.  Both Mommy and Walt performed admirably, however.  It wasn't nearly as messy as I anticipated, and Mommy didn't even cry.  I think I would have cried if I'd had to eat that stuff.  It didn't look very appetizing.  Oh well, at least it's fortified with iron.

On the technology front, Walt and I made an emergency trip to the office today to diagnose the problem with the picture transfers.  (I hope you all realize that Sunday office visits are extremely rare, so now you know how dedicated we are to Walt's fans.)  We've determined that the camera is the problem, but we've devised a temporary fix.  The pictures should begin flowing freely.

Also, we thought this momentous occasion should be filmed, so we bring you another Walt's World first: a downloadable Walt movie.  (WARNING: this file is pretty large.  Approx. 9mb.  It may take a few minutes even with a high speed connection.  If you're using dial-up, just go ahead and send us a self-addressed stamped envelope, and we'll send you a copy on CD.  That would probably be faster.)  As usual, just click, and it should play automatically.  Watch your volume level, too.  Don't want anyone to get fired from a job.

  1. Well, Walt, the look on your face doesn't look like you enjoyed your first "solid" meal. However, the sound from the clip says differently. It sounds as though you were smacking your lips between bites, so it couldn't have been all that bad! The sky's the limit from here, though. You'll get to taste Putty's M&Ms in just 12 short months!! Before that, maybe Mommy will feed you some turnips--yum, yum--you're gonna love them just like Mommy does. Some cornbread will be tasty, too. More wonderful things to come. Keep us posted on what all you get to taste and what you like and don't like. Putty will surely help you eat those yucky things when you're here. He'll also try to get you to eat pickled beets so that you won't get scurvy!!!!

  4. Walt, welcome to the world of real (good)food. It won't be long until you get to eat really good stuff! We will bring extra stroopwafels, sprinkles and fries with mayonaise next time we will come over. I will listen and watch the extra features tonight, after we hook up the sound to our computer again. Providing the house is still standing when we get back.
