Look What I Can Do!

Img_0132

Walt's smiles are still rare, but he did seem to be pretty amused with his ability to make the toys hanging from his Gymini move.  Walt and I took a trip downtown to have lunch with Daddy at Calvary's Waffle Shop today.  Walt didn't partake of any fish pudding himself, but I'm sure he enjoyed mine (second-hand) later on.  While we were downtown, Josh wanted to take him over to 201 Poplar (the courthouse, for you non-Memphians) to show him off to some friends.  We met a number of dignitaries, all of whom admonished us to get him out of 201 as quickly as possible before Walt was influenced to turn to a life a crime (or become a lawyer).

While I'm on here, I'm going to go ahead and make a solemn vow to never, EVER again brag on my child's sleeping habits in print.  Walt followed up his admirable sleeping performance day before yesterday by taking naps no longer than 35 minutes all day yesterday and then screaming bloody murder for two hours before finally wearing himself out sometime after midnight last night.  All I can say is that I'm just glad he hasn't been doing that screaming thing since he was born because I'm not sure either of us are mentally equipped to deal with that.  As it was, we were researching military schools that accept 7-week olds about 11 o'clock last night!  (But today he's kind of cute again, so I guess we'll put that off a while.)

  1. Walt, since you and Holly (our adopted abandoned puppy) prefer to be awake at night and you both love to make lots of noise, I think you should come here to Goodlettsville for a stayover. We could put the two of you in the same room at night and you could see which of you could make the loudest noise and for the longest time! If the noise was just too much to handle, I'm sure Nana and Putty wouldn't mind if we moved you both up the hill and around the corner to their house till daybreak. I'm so glad I got to meet you in church a couple weeks ago, even if you were sound asleep. I guess that would be right... it was daytime! Lea

  2. I am learning so much here...
Note to self, don't talk about how much your baby sleeps and go ahead and get some military school catalogs ordered now!

  4. Well, Walt, it's not easy sitting 200 miles away and listening to your parents talk about placing you in a military school. I kept telling them what a great baby you were, and now you've made them appreciate you! If Nana needs to come get you, you just call me. It won't take Putty long to get us there so that we can keep you and let Mom and Dad have some time to relax. We certainly don't want them to even begin to think about returning you! Keep them on their toes, though, and make sure they appreciate those precious smiles. There's so much more fun yet to come!

  5. Well, just in time--I've been thinking about opening up my own military academy! My first and favorite cadet will be you! We'll march and drill all day and then eat ice cream all night (with chocolate syrup and nuts)! Let your mommy tell you how much ice cream my bowl will hold! Our academy motto will be: "when the going gets tough, the tough eat chocolate".

  6. Ginger,
We will watch him at night, we will still be on the europeantimetable anyway, we will just jet-lag a few days later. Or...send Walt over here and in two weeks he will be on the european time schedule and upon return sleep at night and be awake during the day!!! Isn't that better than militaryschool? And Frank we will feed him stroopwafels and chocolatesprinkles. No we will not take him to Amsterdam and expose him to n.... guys skating in the streets (I saw you thinking.....).
    Sleep well everybody!
