Fingers and Proposals

Img_0019

As you can see from this almost identical to another already posted picture, Walt has become quite proficient at finding his fingers.  We think this a clear indication that he will score somewhere above the 90th percentile on the SAT.  He's particularly good at sticking his finger or fingers in his mouth when he's a little excited.  It calms him down rather nicely.  What a little genius!

Speaking of geniuses.  I set up Walt's port-a-crib in the Crouches' living room yesterday evening after we arrived.  For those of you who don't know what a port-a-crib is, it's a combination crib and playpen that breaks down into a bag the size of a deck of cards.  They are designed by people much smarter than me for assembly by people much, much smarter than me.  Despite the odds against me, I got it done.  But as I was setting it up, I looked around and realized that I was in the same room where I sat some eight years ago and timidly requested Ginger's parents' permission to marry her.  WOW.  And there I was setting up a crib for our baby to sleep during his first visit to Murray.   I'm glad they said 'yes'.  I can't wait for the next eight years.  Who knows what other memories await . . .

  2. Hi,
He is still one of the three cutest babies in the world!!!Hope Walt loves Murray as much as I do, don't forget to take him to the ultimate place to meet people.... Walmart. Just spend my evening in the Ajax-fanshop, shopping for the boys. Could have easily bought the whole babyline. But saved some to take the next time we are coming over. But you can toss your child in when he is born and pick him up when he turns 18. Enough toys, bedding, clothes and supplies (diapers, bottles and stuff)to live comfortably. Of course all in red and white. We hope buy the time the boys fit into their present Ajax will actually be winning some again, which gives them at least a year of time to practice.
    Have fun in Murray!!!!!!

  3. From my experience, finger(and thumb)-sucking babies are the greatest, but you were already off to a good start at being the greatest anyway. What a sweet comment from your daddy, Walt. I'm so thankful that he realizes how blessed he is and that you have been born into such a wonderful family there in Murray, who I know will love you but never, never spoil you so that when you're in Nashville, you won't be rotten!!! I can't wait to hear all that you got to do there and about all the kisses you got from Aunt Puppy, Uncle Mancil, etc. Be a good boy and maybe next time you're there you'll get to go to DQ. We'll have to have a "post" of your first trip there. In the meantime, maybe you could give them one of your sweet smiles and they would open just two days earlier.
Yes, God has been good these past eight years--what a smart man your daddy was to choose such a wonderful mommy for you. Great blessings have been showered on me, Putty, Gram and Granddady and how thankful we are. I know He has great plans for your life, too, and my prayer is that you'll fulfill them every one. I love you!

  4. How well I remember the evening that your daddy came to Murray to ask for permission to marry your mommy...what a gentleman! Granddaddy and I were more than happy to say "YES". Your daddy is one great guy...but you already know that. I think I knew from the moment I met him that he would be sticking around! And now eight years later you are sleeping in the room where it all began!
We loved having you and Collier here this weekend...never a dull moment! Imagine when you will both be toddling and then running around the house!Once again I am reminded that we are doubly blessed.
You and Collier were a huge hit in Murray! Can't wait until your NEXT visit. I already miss you both! We love you so much!
