"Let me get this straight -- we're going to pay how much for a dead tree and put it where?"
"Alright, if you insist, I think I see a winner over here."
"See? Look how cute I look next to it!"
"Uh, excuse me, that's our tree. Hands off, mister!"
As you can imagine, Walt was a very big help in putting the tree up.
What? Like you've never seen a pumpkin and a Christmas tree on the porch at the same time?
The tree is up . . .
. . . and it's good!!
Walt especially likes the Pat the Bunny ornament (he's giving it a kiss here) and the dump truck ornament given to him by Gram. It's hanging a little higher because it's breakable, but everyday, he goes to the tree, points at it, and shouts, "Duh-cruk!"
*The title of one of the many great songs on the They Might Be Giants Here Come the ABCs CD. If you have kids under the age of, oh about six or seven, you must have this CD. (Also available in DVD format for those long holiday car trips.)
Walt, we're so glad you were there to explain to Daddy how to put the tree stand together. It looks like he just didn't understand how to do it, but alas you've again come to his rescue. You might tell him that if it seems wobbly, he can do like Putty and nail it to the floor!
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious boy you are! We're so looking forward to Christmas with you and the special memories that you'll provide. Of course, Putty needs to get moving with purchasing that new video camera so that we can preserve those memories. You did know Putty needed a new camera, didn't you? Those things just haven't been perfected yet, and when they're submerged in creek water, they're never the same!
HUGS AND KISSES TO THE SWEETEST LITTLE BOY IN THE WORLD!
Ginger, this was just the exact medication and dosage I needed this morning to help me face the day. You and Josh are both sooooo great with your postings, and I know the time you put into them means a lot to a lot of people, myself included. Ahhh, the "perfect" Christmas tree. What a beautiful addition these pictures will be to Walt's volumes of memories which you are recording for him. The three of you are so beautiful and so beautifully matched by God. Hope I will get at least of glimpse of you sometime during the Christmas season...maybe if Josh decides he just HAS to drive by his favorite mailbox in the whole wide world??? Love to all.
ReplyDeleteWhile putting up my own Christmas tree I noticed one of my favorite ornaments that had been damaged in the great Christmas tree fall of 1997 (or maybe it was 1995 or it could have been 98)anyway it brought back great Christmas memories so I hope there were no nails involved in the putting up of your tree, Walt, but if there were it looks like you had the perfect hammer and Putty would be the perfect teacher.
ReplyDeleteJosh, don't worry it took 3 college educated people at my office last week to put together exactly the same tree stand.
ReplyDeleteTree looks great.
Walt,
ReplyDeleteThe Christmas tree experiences are always one of the best memories. Ask Mommy about trips to LBL to get the $1 tree hunting permit and then the big search for the right tree. Daisy usually got to go along...and then Harriet, too! DeeDaddy never nailed the tree to the floor like Putty, but he did tie it to the curtain rod one year! Silly tree just wouldn't stand up straight...funny, it was perfectly straight in the woods! Love you, Sweet Boy!
