Little Drummer Boy

Dsc_0061

Yes, we bought our son a drum.  And, no, actually we haven't lived to regret it.  The kid's path to rock stardom has got to start somewhere, right?

Editor's note:  Daddy is generally in charge of changing Walt out of his church clothes on Sunday while Mommy gets lunch ready.  Apparently Daddy thinks that our fashion sense needs a day of rest too.

  1. Walt, I think the "here we go 'round, here we go 'round, here we go 'round the chicken coop" has gotten to their brains. I'm going to be sure to remind them some day that this was not a grandparent gift (and probably will never be matched by anything Gram and Grandaddy or Nana and Putty may give you in the future)!
You need to talk to your cousin, Drew, to get some pointers on the drums. We always thought he'd make it to stardom as a drummer, too.

  2. Oh, you've done it now! As Nana referenced, Mr. Jessie, cousin Drew's late grandfather, bought him a drum set (as in 3 WITH a cymbal!) a while back and lawd!...as much as we loved seeing him 'play,' well, did I say "Lawd!" Before the real drum set, he beat on our once very nice LEATHER recliner (it still has drum stick marks). He beat on our couch. He beat on our pillows that go with the couch, I surmise to get that 'just right sound.' I hope y'all are up to it. Of course, we also got a lot of joy out of it (you know, make a joyful noise unto the Lord?). Good luck! and ENJOY!
    Love y'all!

PS - Be sure to let him take it with him when y'all go to all those Memphis-area and neighborhood music fests. He'll be in hog-heaven!

  3. That same drum has has been making Connor happy for more than two years now! You won't regret it- it's fun. An added bonus- the drum sticks can double as microphones!

  4. Hoorah for the drum. Do not fear. I have that same band/drum get up for Petrea and she is a huge fan. If her singing voice is like her parents, the instrument route was her only hope. Rock on Walt. Rock on!
