Happy 4th!

Well, we survived yet another Memphis-to-Nashville-to-Murray-back-to-Memphis roadtrip!  (Barely -- Walt is no more enamored with being strapped into his carseat for long periods of time now than he was a year ago.)  Here are some of the highlights of the trip . . .

Before we even hit the road, Walt suffered his first skinned knee while helping Mommy water her herbs in the backyard.  Didn't seem to throw him too much, although he wasn't quite sure what to make of the band-aid.

At Nana and Putty's on Saturday morning, Walt helped Putty fill the change jar.  Word has it that when it's filled, Walt and Putty get to go shopping for new shirts.  (Like either of them need more.)

Although if Walt keeps eating chips and ranch dressing like he did at Pagliai's in Murray on Monday, he's going to need some new shirts, 'cause he'll be busting out of his old ones.

Back at Gram and Grandaddy's house, Walt had a very fun 4th of July playing in the sprinkler with Gram . . .

. . . trying on Gram's shoes . . .

. . . playing in the sprinkler with Grandaddy (whose was powerless to resist Walt's demands, even though he'd already had a bath after the first sprinkler outing) . . .

. . . and chasing bubbles.

After all that hard playing, a kid needs a cool drink,

and a place to kick back.

Hope everyone had a happy 4th!

  1. Walt, I'm very disappointed that the Murray DQ was not mentioned in your 4th of July festivities. I know there was one time when your daddy didn't want to go because the whole family was dressed alike, so I'm guessing maybe he wouldn't go with you dressed up in Gram's shoes. He's sorta' funny like that; you'll have to forgive him!
I love you and so enjoyed your stay this past weekend. You're so much fun to be with.

  2. Walt-I love the facial expression over the band-aid! I felt that way today when the doctor did something to my back; it's no fun! At least your band-aid looked better than mine.

  3. Walt, your're the coolest! I'm a chips and ranch dressin' guy, too. And don't worry about those pounds pilin' up. You'll lose 'em when you start your runnin' regimen...in a few years.
    Love ya!

  4. Walt,
I am very concerned after reading the post and nana's comment and the post again: NO DQ!!! That must be a mistake, they just didn't mention it right, but you did go didn't you?!
If not I will have to fly over and have a serious talk to your daddy, or have granddaddy check him over. I mean HE is the guy that took an ONE HOUR DETOUR to have a blizzard at Murray's DQ.
Have them take you back to Murray! Uncle Mancil will take you and those blizzards are healthy, because he makes them scrape the calories off.
    Love you,
    Harriet

  5. Walt, I had to run through the sprinkler by myself today...not nearly as much fun as doing it with you. Maybe Collier will do it with me next week! Let me set the record straight...YES there were DQ trips...several, as a matter of fact! Walt is just not a fan...yet! He prefers the chips and dip at Pagliai's. Yes, I had a very Happy 4th since you and your Mommy and Daddy and Evie were here, but would you please inform them that it is now the 9th...and time for a new post! Love you!!!

  6. It's raining in Goodlettsville, and Nana and I are rubbing our fingers together. Your daddy's favorite mailbox could sure use a good soaking! He's sure going to miss seeing that mailbox when you all come to visit Nana and Putty. And I'm sure going to miss seeing you riding by our house when you come to visit them. Love you!
