This particular title has been a long time coming. It's Walt's absolute favorite place to be. He doesn't have a sign for it, yet, but he communicates his desire to be there quite clearly at his first glimpse of daylight each day.
Well, this weekend Walt was in luck. Aside from church and naptime, he spent most of the weekend outside. Today was the Ragin' Cajun Crawfish Festival in downtown Memphis. If you think there is no way a 15 month-old likes crawfish, think again. (Wardrobe credit: Putty's trip to Connecticut last year. Don't worry, Walt doesn't have the SAT score for a trip to New Haven, yet.)
Thanks to the Lareaus and our friend John for the invite to his apartment adjacent to the festival grounds. (Mommy only attends festivals if the VIP treatment is in effect.) Consequently, Walt had his own special patio on which to enjoy the poor, little crustaceans and his usual assortment of crackers, cheese and milk.
Of course, with all of that activity nearby, you can only imagine where Walt wanted to be.
Afterward, we cashed in an old gift certificate at the local pub with the Lareaus. Both Meredith and Walt were quite a hit on the patio.
At long last, the sun began to set, and it was time for Walt to call it a day. We squeezed in a few more precious minutes of outside time on the sidewalk just before bedtime.
He gives good hugs. I can only imagine what next weekend holds.
. . . . just another reminder of your great-granddaddy--loving the outdoors. I'm sure you'll get to spend Thursday outdoors (weather permitting) because Aunt Brenda's sole purpose will be to please you the entire day. She's in for the treat of her life as she has you all to herself to see what a curious little fellow you are.
ReplyDeleteLove you a bushel and a peck and a BIG hug around the neck, Walt!
When Meredith walks, where will she follow Walt? YIKES!
ReplyDeleteWalt rocks! So do old gift certificates & outdoor festivals.
ReplyDeleteWalty,
ReplyDeleteyour cousin Collier is a big fan of the outside world too! He throws quite the tantrum when we come in each night!
Crawfish? What next Walty, Sushi?
We love you!
I'm wondering how we are going to get that camera away from Mommy. The pictures are fabulous! Of course it has nothing to do with the camera...just the adorable subject (shhh...don't tell Mommy!). You may be following in Gram's footsteps...the big people always laughed at all the funny things I liked to eat when I was very little (oysters, frog legs, chicken livers...but even I did NOT eat crawfish!!!) Love you!
ReplyDeleteGram, I have to confess that only the first picture in this post was taken with your camera. We were traveling light for our trip to the festival, so we just packed the little camera. Must be my natural photography talents!
ReplyDeleteWalty, You must be very happy , you were not born in Europe. We had two lovely days, which we enjoyed to the fullest. But the rest of the week it is cold and wet again. Even Queensday is expected to be wet! Enjoy the good weather!
ReplyDeleteLove from us
