March Madness with Gram

Img_3820

If there's anybody better to spend the first weekend of the NCAA tournament with, we don't know who it would be.  Here Gram and Walt show off their Murray State gear.  Unfortunately, both the Murray State and the UK games started after Walt's bedtime, so he didn't get to watch them, but we did manage to devise a set-up so that Gram could watch both her beloved Racers and Wildcats at the same time . . .

The evening turned out well for her first alma mater, but not as well for her second . . . MSU lost by four points to North Carolina in a very tight game.  Oh well, baseball season starts soon and I'm SURE this is the year the Cubbies are going to win it all!  Right, Gram?

Anyway, here are some shots from the rest of the very fun weekend spent with Gram.

Gram brought bubbles!

Daddy, if you want me to mow the lawn, you really need to get me a better mower.  This hippo is worthless!

Walt tests out his new ride.

Apparently it is a very smooth ride.

Gram caught Walt exploring the cave under the table.

And finally, you know how in our last post we said that Walt was still not really walking much.  Well, we should know by now that if we want him to start doing something, all we have to do is post here that he is not doing it.  Over the past three days, he has gone from walking only when prodded (and then only a couple of steps), to walking pretty much everywhere.  He still kind of has that drunk-baby thing going on, but I think we can officially call him a walker now.  Here's some footage . . .

Not bad, huh?

P.S.  As much as I hate to incriminate myself like this, I promised Mom that I would post this picture.  Josh and I went to an 80's-themed birthday party last night and this is the outfit I came up with . . .

The tight-rolled jeans are my favorite part.  (What were we thinking?!)  Mom says that this is exactly what I looked like in the eighth grade.  Sadly, I'm afriad she's right.  Care to comment, Harriet?

P.P.S.  Happy anniversary, Nana and Putty!

  1. Glad to see the March Madness... sorry that Murray State lost... Harriet asked me to cheer them on and I did... I thought they played a much better game than UNC and really deserved to win... and yes... I'm in the middle of NC and live practically next door to UNC... I didn't know until AFTER I had said yes to Harriet they were playing UNC... the sneak had forgotten to tell me that tiny detail! Did you see the picture of Anouk on Harriet's site... as a UK fan?! It's so cute!

  2. Poor Petrea had to be dressed for the weekend too, but she was a bit confused. She had Arkansas sweat outfit, Tenn hat, and clutched her stuff tiger. What's a girl to do. The real comment here is for Ginger and her theme party. We went to a theme brithday party this weekend too ( Wild West). Must be in the water. Anway, while I like the jeans, I love the double watch!!!

  3. Ginger, I am soo getting homesick to the mornings we spent in the bathroom. You spraying your hear towards the ceiling and me spraying deodorant in my hair trying to do the same. The picture could be one out of my yearbook. Ohh, you wanted me to comment on Walty?! Sorry, I'm dutch.
An additional comment to Martine's. The Racers made her watch the whole game!!That alone is equal to winning the tournament! It was the first game she watched till the last second! At least unforced.
Love from still a very cold 37F Holland, where the ice-creamshop opened today!

  4. Well, you told me the teasing effects didn't last so long, but they definitely started out strong! You can take the girl out of the 80s...

  5. Nice try, Ginger. Your hair was much, MUCH bigger in middle school. Valiant effort, though. I could post an actual 80's photo of you, and you would hardly be able to tell the difference. Where did you find the high-waisted jeans, anyway? Owen loves the Walty clip--he's watched it many times, and says "uh-oh" whenever he finally falls at the end.

  6. Yes, Belinda is correct -- my hair was much, much bigger. (I actually carried around a picture of myself at the eighth grade Christmas dance just to prove it.) But without bangs, no amount of teasing would coax it back to its former glory. As for the jeans, it's amazing the treasures you can find at your neighborhood thrift store.
