No, no the news is not that I look silly nor is it that we don't know how to eliminate red-eye from our photos. We're talking big, big news. Ready? OK, here goes: all three of the animals in the above photo can now roll over. That's right, little Walt rolled over for the very first time this morning. (Evie's been doing it ever since we brought home the first box of treats. I'm not sure when I started. Maybe Nana can fill us in on that one.) Regardless, we're very excited. Much more so than Walt himself. In fact we think he only does it because he hates being on his stomach. It still counts.
By way of explanation, the photo is of me getting Evie to "speak". It really makes Walt giggle. Hysterical by his standards actually. Very amusing for the rest of us, too. (Evie's probably amused more by the treat, but, hey, we're all happy in the end.)
Also, as a follow up to the "Bonding" post a couple of weeks ago, Evie seems to possess some kind of calming influence over Walt as well. He was rather fussy when I got home from work today and began to cry. On a whim, we called Evie in from the living room, and as soon as she got within arm's reach of him and sat down, he stopped crying and smiled. Amazing. Her best trick yet. Do any of your pets have a trick that can top that?
One last thing, Mommy doesn't get enough face time here, so here's one from the airport this past weekend:
Well, yes, Nana can help with that. My records indicate that Daddy rolled over for the first time on February 11, 1975, so naturally he should be an old pro by now (for those who are counting, that was 30+ years ago, but who's counting). That made him only a little over 3 months old. He always was on top of things! Of course, when we start talking about crawling, we're going to find that Daddy was a little slow and very unusual--stay tuned for another comparison. Walt, I know you'll have him beat by miles on that one!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait until tomorrow to see you. Putty has all kinds of new balloon animals to show you, and we're excited to see you in the pool during the 4th of July weekend, too--so much fun and so little time.
Nana and Putty love you! Glad to know you'll be traveling on brand new tires as you make the trip to Nashville tomorrow.
Josh, My pet can cook and do laundry. The other one learned not to bark in the yard and so far Cheryl was the only one who could get her to roll over. Needless to say I am impressed with all three of you, more so because they put me on a diet, because I was physically unable to roll over. Shoulnd't have stopped that, but that is an other issue.
ReplyDeleteLove from us and have a good weekend!!!
WOW!!! CONGRATULATIONS Walt on your big accomplishment. The world will look very different from your new positions...sitting up and rolling over. I am so glad that you and Evie are becoming friends...I knew it would happen! If you really have a calming effect on Walt, Aunt Mimi and Uncle Stephen will be wanting to borrow you for weeks at a time for Collier!
ReplyDeleteI sure have missed you this week...but I'll see you in Sugarcreek! I love you!
