In Memory of Granny

Funerals are never what you might call "fun", but they can certainly be healing, beautiful, and ironically, even life-affirming. That's how I felt when we took this picture after Granny's funeral on Saturday -- this group of family members who came from near and far to pay their respects affirmed that her life touched and brought forth many others. Although I don't get to see many of them often, I'm blessed to know them all and was so grateful to see them on Saturday.

My cousin, John Sawyer (on the far right), preached the sermon for the funeral and did an absolutely magnificent job. Granny would have been so proud to hear him. I think he might have even inspired Patrick, who started practicing his preaching immediately after lunch.
